Based in Pécs-Somogy, Let's Help Each Other Association has been a cornerstone of community development and social assistance for disadvantaged families since 2013. In 2025, the Association will launch an ambitious pilot project to expand its social enterprise activities and use the increased revenue to support and strengthen its vital community programmes.
Since 2016, the Association has sold mini doughnuts at village fairs and festivals in the Pécs region. In 2021, the team expanded their offer to include strudels. Whilst the social enterprise has seen success, operating from a tent setup has posed significant challenges. Many events do not accommodate tents, limiting participation opportunities. Additionally, the tent setup lacks the professional appearance of a more permanent structure, which can impact customer decisions when selecting where to buy from. Logistical difficulties have further complicated operations, such as transporting and assembling equipment, while the inability to produce food on-site has limited flexibility.
Purchasing a food truck aims to be a transformative step forward. It will enable participation at high-profile events, improve operational efficiency, and elevate the Association’s offer. With a fully equipped mobile kitchen, the Association aims to boost revenue and provide occasional employment opportunities for disadvantaged individuals.
The Foundation will support the acquisition and ‘kit out’ of the food truck, through the combination of a grant and an interest-free loan. The pilot is expected to generate sufficient profit to repay the loan, while allowing the Association to reinvest any surplus into its core programmes. Looking ahead, the Association aims to hire an additional community worker to assist the organisation’s leader and voluntary team. It also plans to revive its Youth Club —previously discontinued due to funding challenges— in order to offer enriching developmental experiences for young children in the community.
